Boredom
Hello!! Things have been static for quite some time at home and at college (No fair Madhu! Your holidays seem ENDLESS!) and I am in serious need of some excitement. With exams drawing frighteningly close and with zero preparation on my front, I probably felt a certain security by "boring myself to freakin' death"! For some reason or the other, I must say it is quite reassuring. When I don't study or engage in productive activity (for now, the priority is undoubtedly productiveness from study... *sigh*.. practically anything else would have been better!), I just resort to trying to convince myself that I should not engage in anything "fun" or "amusing". But that is just NOT the way it should work.
Which brings us to what I want to share with you...
I came across this quote the other day:
"In order to come up in life, we must sacrifice boredom."
At first sight, I must admit that this quote made absolutely no sense to me... I'm slow, so sue me! I mean, anyone in their right mind would gladly sacrifice boredom (at least I would..)! Who would want to be bored?? K, so after about a couple of days, during which I spent about half an hour of GP and the whole 2 hours of Physics pondering over the possibilities, I finally understood its meaning (Hurray!) I know that there are quite a few bright spots here who dun exactly have to read Megha Subramanian's explanation to comprehend all this... but what the heck! There is great satisfaction obtained when one can make sense out of philosophy!
With regard to me, I rarely engage in activities that are genuinely productive...well I do to a certain extent, yes ofcourse, but the major flaw is that I hardly do those things at the appropriate time (I'm just going to blame it on human instinct..) And its the same for everyone!! Most of the time we do certain things so that we would NOT have to do something else... well, if productiveness is substituted with productiveness, then there is absolutely nothing wrong with it. But if we lay idle and do nothing, then there's the problem. That is, we do something because we are BORED to do something else. Boredom is an enormous sacrifice if we want to come up in life!!
And yup...after wasting 2 to 3 hours in physics class thinking about unecessary things, I am undoubtedly paying the price (Magnetic fields, Magnetic force, Fleming's left hand rule, solenoids, etc, etc, ettccc......ahhh....ANITHA!!!) Anitha was paying attention, but erm...I think she'll have to do some early A2 revision, for my sake! So yes, I have been paying EXTRA attention in physics for the past few days. And I told myself to start serious revision for my AS. It's far too close for me to ignore it!
And oh yea..we're having an A-level Ball next friday at Saujana Hayaat Regency Hotel at Subang and I am so excited. A-levels is definitely not the no-life course if you have great friends to spend time with, and I am undoubtedly blessed with the best of friends!!!
Ciaozzz... Have a good weekend!
