Boredom

Hello!! Things have been static for quite some time at home and at college (No fair Madhu! Your holidays seem ENDLESS!) and I am in serious need of some excitement. With exams drawing frighteningly close and with zero preparation on my front, I probably felt a certain security by "boring myself to freakin' death"! For some reason or the other, I must say it is quite reassuring. When I don't study or engage in productive activity (for now, the priority is undoubtedly productiveness from study... *sigh*.. practically anything else would have been better!), I just resort to trying to convince myself that I should not engage in anything "fun" or "amusing". But that is just NOT the way it should work.

Which brings us to what I want to share with you...
I came across this quote the other day:
"In order to come up in life, we must sacrifice boredom."

At first sight, I must admit that this quote made absolutely no sense to me... I'm slow, so sue me! I mean, anyone in their right mind would gladly sacrifice boredom (at least I would..)! Who would want to be bored?? K, so after about a couple of days, during which I spent about half an hour of GP and the whole 2 hours of Physics pondering over the possibilities, I finally understood its meaning (Hurray!) I know that there are quite a few bright spots here who dun exactly have to read Megha Subramanian's explanation to comprehend all this... but what the heck! There is great satisfaction obtained when one can make sense out of philosophy!
With regard to me, I rarely engage in activities that are genuinely productive...well I do to a certain extent, yes ofcourse, but the major flaw is that I hardly do those things at the appropriate time (I'm just going to blame it on human instinct..) And its the same for everyone!! Most of the time we do certain things so that we would NOT have to do something else... well, if productiveness is substituted with productiveness, then there is absolutely nothing wrong with it. But if we lay idle and do nothing, then there's the problem. That is, we do something because we are BORED to do something else. Boredom is an enormous sacrifice if we want to come up in life!!
And yup...after wasting 2 to 3 hours in physics class thinking about unecessary things, I am undoubtedly paying the price (Magnetic fields, Magnetic force, Fleming's left hand rule, solenoids, etc, etc, ettccc......ahhh....ANITHA!!!) Anitha was paying attention, but erm...I think she'll have to do some early A2 revision, for my sake! So yes, I have been paying EXTRA attention in physics for the past few days. And I told myself to start serious revision for my AS. It's far too close for me to ignore it!
And oh yea..we're having an A-level Ball next friday at Saujana Hayaat Regency Hotel at Subang and I am so excited. A-levels is definitely not the no-life course if you have great friends to spend time with, and I am undoubtedly blessed with the best of friends!!!
Ciaozzz... Have a good weekend!

Successful People Have Goals

Hi Guys! Sorry for the delay in putting up a post.... I put up a poem...one of my favourites...I read this poem and realised that my dreams were not impossible....it was I who was making it impossible....Like the saying goes, "Where there's a Will, there's always a Way." I believe my will power is strong and so there's always a way to the top.... =)

Successful People Have Goals

Your present circumstances don't determine where you can go, they merely determine where you start.

The purpose of goals is to focus your attention on your future.

Magic begins when you set them.Your power to accomplish becomes a reality when you have them.

Your mind reaches toward achievement when it has clear objectives.

Goals give you a starting place and a destination.
If you focus the full power of all you are on what you have a burning desire to achieve....you will attain success.

Act on your dreams and they are yours.

We, as humans, are capable of anything!
"We are never given a wish without also being given the power to make it true.We might have to work for it, however" Richard Bach (This is one of my all-time favourite quotes... If you're into philosophy, his books are definitely worth reading..)
I think there is great truth in what Mr. Bach says. It is one of the simplest concepts of life, for some reason or the other it did not hit me until I read his books (is it just me or....) To be frank, there were many things that I had never tried in the past, things I would have very much liked to do.... whether it was laziness or plain fear, I do not know... And then, I realised that it all just comes back to your attitude.
I think that everyone knows everything...its all hidden in our minds someplace, places we don't dare to explore, and so, it just sits and waits patiently for us to unveil its secrets! Its just a matter of accepting/knowing that you know/are capable of knowing everything. And automatically, you begin to move on and learn newer things and make the best of opportunities that come your way.
For instance, you wanna learn to play the violin. First of all, we have to give up all our inhibitions that we CANNOT play. This is definitely the biggest hurdle. It is obviously difficult to let go of your knowing that you indeed cannot play the violin. Then it will be a hard thing to play the guitar. It will take years of practice before you give yourself permission to play well, and your sub-conscious mind tells you that you have suffered enough the earn the reward of being able to play well. So, practice makes perfect!! And imagine the satisfaction you recieve when u can actually play well....

Life's imperfections...

Noone's perfect (everybody knows that...) NOONE and NOTHING in this world is perfect.... In actual fact, everything is created in such a way that it is flawed in certain aspects! Humans are always on a quest for perfection; subconsciously seeking perfection in all our actions. But I have always felt that the concept of perfection was always too abstract to understand. This is coming from a girl who still cannot comprehend why on earth a person would wanna study about "momentum" and "inertia".... All I know is that momentum is "mass x velocity", and i try to stay satisfied with my level of understanding (but I'm never actually satisfied..) But that's besides the point...
How can you define perfection?? How far do you have to go to say that you are actually CLOSER to perfection? And sometimes I think about what life would be if the universe were indeed perfect. Look at the night sky.... is it a perfect sky? Even though the sky is changing every day, can we still call it a prefect sky? The oceans and currents are changing daily too... It is changes and imperfections that triggers wonder in our minds. Wonder and discovery is what makes our lives dynamic. If everything were prefect, they would be the same, day-in and day-out.... If perfection were stagnation, heaven would be a swamp! We thrive on our flaws.... each day, we make newer self-discoveries, and learn newer ways to overcome obstacles in our path... And that is what makes this world such a beautiful place... And the best part is it moulds itself into whatever each person finds most beautiful!
Come to think of it, all there is to removing a cloud from your life is to remove it from your thinking, by clearing your mind. There is no reason to make a big production out of it..... you just need to relax.
After all, A cloud does not know why it moves in such a direction at such a speed, It merely feels an impulsion..... this is the place to go now. But the sky knows the reasons and the patterns behind all clouds, and you will too, when you lift yourself hig enough to see beyond horizons..." Think about it....

Our very first post!!!

Yahoo! We finally got our own blog...shared by both of us....cool....!

Lol.... As ecstatic as we actually are with getting this blog, I think all the initial euphoria and excitement (I think we were happier than the Malaysians during the Grand Opening of the Petronas Twins Towers......kk, that's over-exaggeration, as happy as TWO of the people at the Grand Opening of the Twin Towers!!) overshadowed the more important aspect of the actual blogging itself!!! I seem to be faced with writer's block already!
Hehe..anyways, I've known Madhu for the past 3567 years (I would have known her longer if I were born slightly earlier...) and we've been the best of friends ever since!!! So, we thought about creating this blog together!!
I've always believed that love doesn't make the world go round, but rather makes the experiences in life that much more worthwhile!! So, I am grateful for all those around me, who have contributed to my life in their own way..... So, I love all u people!! Every person and all the events of ours lives are here because we have drawn them here..... wat we chose to do with them was almost entirely up to us!!!
